Thelma Rosalyn "Rosie" Rogers, 92, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away June 27, 2024. She was born on November 30, 1931 in Peru, Indiana, the daughter of Charles V. and Gertrude R. Weaver (Oesterle ). On December 1, 1950 she married Glenn M. Rogers at Highland Park Church in Kokomo, Indiana, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2006.Rosie was a Brownie leader. She was also involved in Cub Scouts. Rosie enjoyed playing euchre with her friends and face painting at the fair. She was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters. Dolores M. (Ennis) Kirby, 93, of Greentown, passed away at 1:53 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Century Villa Health Care.She was born April 21, 1931, in Kokomo, to Lawrence G. and Gertrude L. (Kirby) Timme.Dolores graduated from Kokomo High School, and worked as a security guard for Pinkerton Security. She loved fishing, working puzzles, especially crossword puzzles, reading and playing Bingo. Bobbie Anne Shiflet, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at her home.She was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, to the late Robert Clark and Liane (Emmett) Clark on May 12, 1939. On Aug. 16, 1958, in Arther, Tennessee, she married Bobby Shiflet, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2022.Bobbie Anne worked for Delco for 34 years, and retired from there in 1996. She served many years as the Children's Ministry Director at Bethel Tabernacle, and faithfully attended One Church. While leading the children's ministry at Bethel, she wrote and directed many plays and musicals for the Easter and Christmas seasons. She loved her family and loved the Lord. Bobbie Anne is survived by her children, Kim (Paul) Amore and Bryan (Amanda) Shiflet; grandchildren, Ashlee (Justin) Eubanks, Ashton (Dean) Schimmelpfennig and Landyn Shiflet; great-grandchildren, Ezra Hill, Jaylee Eubanks, Eli Eubanks and Bella Eubanks; siblings, Elizabeth Fretwell, Edward (Jane) Emmett, David (Faye) Emmett and Dottie (Ed) Cole; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Nell) Shiflet, Bert (Elsie) Shiflet, Lisa (Mike) Holmes and Brenda Shiflet; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, Bobby, she was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Liane Clark, and Guy and Allie Emmett; sister, Joyce Haun; niece, Sherri Bunch; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carl and Lillie Shiflet; brothers-in-law, J.D. Larry Raber, 85, peacefully passed away in his home filled with his loving family on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.Larry was born July 25, 1938, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Louis Benjamin and Bessie Mae (Franklin) Raber. He graduated from Kokomo High School with the class of 1956, and went on to get his Associate's of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Indiana University Kokomo.He served in the U.S. Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1962. While stationed in San Diego, California, Larry and his buddies got into mischief that led to them washing a lot of cars in their driveway. A young woman and her family had just moved to a home next door from Kansas in 1957. He saw that their car was dirty and offered to wash it, and the rest was history. Larry took Norma Jean Lambert as his wife in San Diego on Dec. 6, 1959.The couple would move back to his hometown, and he would work for General Motors for 38 years until his retirement.Larry was very kind and just a good person, but he had his traits that made him frugal and an extreme type A organizer and perfectionist. He adored being with his family, and cherished memories made with them. Larry loved the outdoors, and would fish and go canoeing with his friends and family in Canada, loved trips to Northern Manitoba, enjoyed bird watching and traveling with his wife.He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Kokomo, and associate member of First United Methodist Church in Warsaw. He was a member of the Warsaw Kiwanis Club, the Kokomo Taylor Lions Club and the Kokomo Elks. Larry also served as a Boy Scout Leader in Kokomo.Larry is survived by his wife, Norma of Warsaw; and their daughters, Donna (Bob) Ritchie of Warsaw, Deanna (Scott) Smith of Akron and Debra (Chris) Cook of California; six grandchildren, Ryan (Linda) Moore, Jake (Kristi) Ritchie, Matt Smith, Nathan Cook, Liliana Cook and Casey Cook; four great-grandchildren, Elliana Moore, Deacon Moore, Brynlee Ritchie and Delaney Ritchie; his sister, Betty (Bud) Ballew of Kokomo; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ross, Jerry and Sue Raber.Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Priscilla Nash, a long-time resident of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away June 26, 2024, in Bonita Springs, Florida.She was born June 17, 1937, in Niagara Falls, New York, the daughter of the late Harvey and Susanna Hutson. Priscilla graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1955, and graduated from the Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She was also a 1961 graduate of the SUNY Plattsburgh New York school nursing program.Priscilla was a school nurse with the Western School Corporation in Russiaville, Indiana, from 1967 to 1977. She moved from Indiana to Florida in 1977, and was a school nurse with Pasco County Schools, Florida, from 1979 until retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Priscilla will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, faithful friend and tireless advocate for the many children in the schools where she served as a school nurse. Priscilla is preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Sue Ann Swanson.She is survived by her children, Suzanne Gardner of Bonita Springs, Florda, Charles (Patrick) Nash Jr. of Cumming, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Charles (Charlie) Nash III of Cumming, Georgia, Lauren Gardner of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sarah Gardner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. David Robert Thompson, 73, died on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Whiteland, Indiana.David was born March 6, 1951, in Kokomo, Indiana. His parents were Chester Harris Thompson and Margaret Hannah (Newby) Thompson. He married Susan Kitch on Aug. 20, 1978, in Morgantown, Indiana.He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and brother, Mae Marie and Gene Harris.He is survived by his wife, Susan; sisters, Marian Mills and Carolyn Thompson of Kokomo, Indiana; daughters, Brooke (Angel) Fuentes of Greenwood, Indiana, and Brette (Keenan) Mack of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and granddaughters, Isabella Adelita Fuentes, Eleanor Jane Mack and Vivian Elizabeth Mack.David grew up in Kokomo, where he attended Union Street Friends church, and spent a significant amount of time working in the parks department with his father, particularly with the fast and slow-pitch softball leagues. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1969, where he participated in band, football, track and wrestling. He was the recipient of the WIOU Athlete Award for 1969. He graduated from Indiana State University, where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity.David spent the entirety of his career, spanning 39 years, as an Industrial Technology teacher at Clark-Pleasant Middle School, where he met his wife. He was an active member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and a member of the Whiteland United Methodist Church. He took profound joy in coaching football and wrestling. He enjoyed lifelong connections with his fellow coaches and the athletes he worked with over the years. Wilma K. Bowers, 80, of Lucerne, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at her son's home in Delphi.Born on Jan. 1, 1944, in Logansport, she was the daughter of William and Josephine (Eikelburner) Frushour.She was a graduate of Lucerne High School.Wilma formerly worked as a waitress for the Corner Pub in Kokomo, Wal-Mart and the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and the Lucerne Lions Club. Mrs. Reba Lynn Harris, the daughter of Luetta and Lenard Johnson, was born on June 29, 1940, in Marion, Indiana.She was a graduate of Marion High School, and later attended Indiana Wesleyan University, where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Drug Addiction Counseling in 1997. Having accepted Christ at a young age, Reba was an active member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church since 1975.Reba was employed by and retired from General Motors following 31 years of service. God placed a call on her life, which she answered, and became the CEO, Founder and Director of The Gilead House, where she dedicated immense passion and countless hours to the needs of her community for the last 23 years. Her hard work, commitment and infectious smile lead to many accolades, including the Indiana Black Expo Trailblazer Award, the Indiana Wesleyan World Changers Award, 2023 Juneteenth Breaking Chains Award, induction into the Kokomo Historical Society and the 2023 Boy Scouts of America. She also served on the IU School of Nursing (SNAHP) board.She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar L. Harris Sr.; and her son, Anthony Eugene Harris.She is survived by her children, Shari L. Spicer and Oscar L. Joan Renee King, 61, of Kokomo, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Indiana University Health Hospital.She was born on Sept. 10, 1962, in Kokomo, to Frank and Shirley (Kitts) King. Joan graduated from Eastern High School in 1981. She worked as a custodian at Indiana University Kokomo for the past eight years. Carolyn "Sue" Harlow, 87, of Tipton, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at her home.She was born March 7, 1937, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Jesse and Florence (Garver) Welcher. On Dec. 18, 1953, she married James "Jim" Harlow at Rock Prairie Church, who preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2008.Sue was a homemaker and a farmer's wife most of her life. She was a member of Rock Prairie Church, Kokomo China Painting Guild, Community of Limetree Park, Longaberger Basket Club and the Tipton County Home Economics Club. She enjoyed ceramics, China painting, shopping and sewing as she made a lot of clothes over the years. Above all, Sue loved serving and spending time with her family. She volunteered many hours at Tipton Hospital, and was considered a greeter at church before greeting teams were put together. Sue is survived by her three sons, Jeff (Becky) Harlow, Brian (Rachelle) Harlow and Mike (Cris) Harlow, all of Tipton; two daughters, Bethany (Mike) Taylor, Tipton and Marcia (Tony) McCauley, Sharpsville; grandchildren, Will (Tricia) Harlow, Leslie (Curt) Raab, Jessica (Josh) Kluetz, Jennifer (Dave) Conrad, Adrianne Harlow, Ben (Jenee) Harlow, Shanna (Nate) Conner, Nicole (BJ) Dunham, Alisha (Trenton) Casler, Brian Strebin, Jake (Lucy) Taylor, Andrew (Natalie) McCauley, Katrina (Tom) Elliott, John (Ashley) Harlow, Luke (Kayla) Harlow, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Burden and Emily (Daniel) Preston; 39 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Norma Whitehead, Pat Fiscus, Chris Bogue, Karen Buck and Nina Smith. Shirley Goodspeed, 87, Phoenix, Arizona, a strong woman of faith, has gone to her eternal home in Heaven. She passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from injuries suffered in a tragic automobile accident. Her husband, Max Goodspeed, was also injured in the accident and survived her by three weeks, soon catching up with her in Heaven on June 20, 2024.Born on June 28, 1936, in Roanoke, Indiana, Shirley was the daughter of the late Wiley and Lucille Jones. On July 4, 1954, she was married to Max Goodspeed, who was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Bluffton, Indiana, the son of the late Paul and Laura Goodspeed.Surviving are three children: Stephen Goodspeed (Judy), Brenda Johnson (John) and Michael W. Goodspeed (Tonya); nine grandchildren: Michaela Cardwell, Jenna Daniel, Jessica Goodspeed, John Johnson, James Johnson, Michael Goodspeed, Matthew Goodspeed, Raleigh Brown and Savannah Brown; two great-grandchildren: Wesley and Oliver Goodspeed; and Shirley's brothers, Rex Jones (Norma), Gordon Jones, and Kermit Jones (Joyce); and her brothers, Rex Jones (Norma), Gordon Jones and Kermit Jones (Joyce).In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by his siblings: Vaughn Goodspeed (Betty), Kenneth Goodspeed, Robert Goodspeed (Mary) and Mildred Martin (Claude).A homemaker, Shirley's faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her love of family were the greatest priorities in her life. They were member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Kokomo. Max was an owner/operator truck driver for 37 years. Max was a man of good character who worked hard to provide for his family. Max was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Indiana National Guard. He was also a 47-year-member of the Kosciusko Masonic Lodge.Shirley and Max enjoyed 69 years together in marriage. They spent much of their early life together raising their family. Upon retirement, they traveled to all the United States that they had not yet visited. They eventually moved to warmer temperatures, first to Zephyrhills, Florida, and finally to Phoenix, Arizona.Max and Shirley enjoyed 69 years together in marriage. It is fitting that we celebrate them together in death at a double service at Church of The Good Shepherd, 800 E. Broadway, Logansport, at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, with Pastor Doug Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. prior to the service. Mildred Elizabeth "Millie" Rataj, 99, a Kokomo, Indiana resident since 2012, passed away at 4:48 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Century Villa Health Care, in Greentown, Indiana.She was born March 8, 1925, in Berwyn, Illinois, the youngest of eight children born to John and Anna (Sevcik) Marecek. On Nov. 20, 1943, she married the love of her life, Henry Joseph Rataj, who preceded her in death on June 19, 2000.At an early age, Millie and her family were introduced to and put their faith in Jesus Christ through a missionary named Betty Moreland. This conversion changed everything. Our families are deeply grateful for the legacy of faith that was passed on to each of us as a result. Millie graduated from Harrison High School in 1943. Her graduation gift from Henry was a wedding proposal! Throughout her long life, she enjoyed serving in children's ministries in all the churches they attended. She planned all the children's musical programs and made lifelong friends with many of her co-workers. The Rataj family, Millie, Henry and three children, moved to California in 1954. There she worked as a travel agent (she was thrilled with the opportunity to lead a tour of the Holy Land in the 1960s!), a church secretary and a medical secretary. She had many interests in life, and writing her life story was one of the most important, especially as she neared the end of her life. She loved singing (especially hymns), reading the Bible and praying for her family and friends, spending time with family, playing Skip-Bo and Uno (especially with her dear friend Mina EVERY Sunday afternoon), finding bargains at estate sales and garage sales (especially clothes!), writing letters, scrapbooking, listening to John Hagee and David Jeremiah sermons, watching Hallmark movies and party planning. She was always the consummate hostess, and EVERYONE enjoyed coming to the Rataj parties! Rita Marie Walters, 78, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away June 19, 2024.She was born on Dec. 31, 1945, in Kokomo, Indiana the daughter of James Lindley Sr. and Marjorie (Pearcy) Lindley.A 1964 graduate of Northwestern High School, Rita retired from Delco Electronics after many years of employment, and was a member of UAW 292. A farm girl at heart, she shared many stories of growing up with her brothers and sisters on the family farm in Ervin Township. One that stood out was winning an onion-eating contest (you ate them like apples), while others provided a glimpse of daily life in a large farm family. She carried the faith and values she learned as a child into adult life, shoring them up with a love of the Indiana countryside and a strong belief in the value of hard work. She was deeply committed to her roles of wife, mother and grandmother, and loved to be involved however she could. She was a leader for both Brownies and Cub Scouts. She was a big supporter of youth sports, encouraging her kids to participate year-round, and especially enjoyed running the concession stand at Northwestern's ball diamonds for several summers. Later, she volunteered at Howard elementary, relishing the opportunity to be around children again. She also volunteered at Hillsdale UMC alongside her sister, Karen.She had a surprising sense of humor that was revealed in unexpected ways. Whether it was getting into character at Halloween or making some unusual cakes for parties with her co-workers, she found ways to make her work at Delco more enjoyable. She was fascinated by television shows, where she could watch how medical procedures were done or learn more about other places. She dreamed of adventures and exploring the U.S. and the world. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to read and learn, and to see and experience all that was out there, while still embracing Howard County as home. Rita is survived by her children, Rhonda Walters, Rodney and Debbie Walters and Regina Walters; her grandchildren, Justin Walters, Jon Walters and James Walters; and her former husband, Randy Walters.Other surviving relatives include, Bonnie Butler, Pat and Andy Anderson, Audrey Burkhalter, Jim and Linda Lindley, Keith and Pam Lindley, and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her former in-laws, Mike and Peggy Walters, and their family.Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marjorie Lindley; her sister, Karen Jarrett; her brothers-in-law, Fred Jarrett and Ed Burkhalter; her infant granddaughter, Courtney Walters; and her former father- and mother-in-law - Donald "Pete" and Bonnie Walters.Rita's children would like to thank their father, Randy Walters, for all the care and assistance he provided during Rita's last years. Margaret married her high school sweetheart, John "Jack" Fowler, on Aug. 25, 1951. They started their family in Canada, then moved to Ohio in 1966. In 1972, they moved to Kokomo, Indiana, where Margaret started The Gallery on the corner of Main and Markland. She had a passion for sharing her knowledge of art, and taught oil painting and china painting to adults and children for over 50 years. She is survived by her husband, Jack Fowler; her daughter, Sandy Fowler; her granddaughter, Lindsay Ousley and her husband, Ben Ousley; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Clayton and Wyatt Ousley.She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Fowler; and grandson, James Fowler. Marilyn Fay Hughes, 88, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away June 19, 2024, at her home.She was born on April 12, 1936, in Elwood, Indiana, the daughter of Charles W. and Deloris Faucett (Welch). In 1954, she married Cecil Hughes, who preceded her in death in 2012. Marilyn graduated from Kokomo High School. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved gardening and her pet cats. Rudolf Hans "Rudy" Schroeter, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo.He was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Kokomo, the son of the late Hans and Clara (Sommer) Schroeter. On April 25, 1953, he married Betty Ann Burt, who survives.Our dad loved the Lord, our mom and his family. He loved farming, fishing, the Indy 500, watching grandkids' and great-grandkids' activities, a pool game with grandsons, 4-H cattle and pig shows, duck hunting, a good Polka band, Purdue football and basketball, vacations in Wisconsin, Florida and Tennessee, the annual Canada fishing trip, a truck with a topper, our annual fish fry, Braunschweiger with onions on rye bread, a shot of Peppermint Schnapps, ice cream, popcorn and an occasional cigar. Along with his wife of 71 years, Betty; Rudy is also survived by his daughters, Lyn Schroeter, Lisa (Bruce) Bryant and Lori (Chip) Cravens; grandchildren, Aaron Whitehead, Chad (Karen) Cravens, Clint (Emily) Cravens, Andrew (Ann) Bryant, Justin (Allie) Bryant and Travis (Hannah) Bryant; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Hildegard Burgess. Betty Jo Napier, 85, of Kokomo, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her home.She was born on June 5, 1939, in Kettle, Kentucky, the daughter of the Rev. Belve and Florence Nannie (Siler) Sizemore. On Aug. 29, 1955, she married Robert "Bob" Lee Napier, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 2022.Betty has received her healing, and is standing in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Many years ago, she put her trust in Jesus. When faced with cancer she took it in stride, witnessing and praying for those who too were going through treatments. Through it all she kept her Faith. Family was very important to her, she loved her girls, and God blessed her with wonderful sons-in-law. Betty of course spoiled her grandchildren, and was so excited when the great-grandchildren were born. She enjoyed it when the house was full, and all the families came together with laughter that filled the rooms. Betty missed her mother and father and spoke of them often, and how she would love to just talk to them again. When you asked her if she could change anything in her life her answer was always "Not one thing, I had a good life with Robert, and he was a good father and husband. We never worried about a thing." Betty was a Proverbs 31 woman, and loved going to church where she led the choir and taught a Sunday School Class. She was a member at Trinity Holiness Chapel, where she loved the fellowship and gathering with her church family.Betty is survived by her children, Sharon (Jimmy) Stevenson, Patricia "Pat" Napier and Tamara "Tammy" (Bill) Pinkston; her grandchildren, Josh (Candy) Stevenson, Jake (Lindsay) Stevenson, Abby (J.C.) Cecil Andrew Coffey, 82, of Kokomo, Indiana, was called home June 17, 2024, at Waterford Place Health Campus, after a brief illness.He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on Dec. 24, 1941, the son of the late Cecil W. and Belva A. Coffey. On Sept. 17, 1960, he married the late Judith Kay (Chambers) Coffey.Cecil was a 1959 graduate of Western High School. He retired from Delco Electronics after 30-plus years of service. Cecil spent his time in security at the factory, but always enjoyed time farming on his home place that he loved so much. In his lifetime, he spent many hours following his children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. Later in his life, he enjoyed tractor pulls, sprint car races and time on his Harley Davidson.Cecil was a man of few words, but the knowledge that he shared was a blessing. He was a strong man, and he was most content with time spent on his porch talking with his family and friends.Cecil is survived by his three daughters, Janet K. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, the communities of Elwood and Tipton mourned the loss of Philip Kyle Degler, 40, in a tragic traffic accident in Tipton County.He was born on May 11, 1984, in Tipton. He was a previous resident of Sharpsville and Greensburg before his untimely passing.Known affectionately as Kyle to his friends and colleagues (and Mr. Degler to his fortunate students), he dedicated the last six years of his life to educating young minds at Tipton Middle School, where he also served as football coach. Additionally, he lent his voice talents as the public address announcer for the Tipton High School Lady Devils Basketball Team.Kyle was an alumnus of Tri-Central High School from the Class of 2002, where he excelled both on the football field and as Senior Class President. Continuing his academic journey at Indiana University-Kokomo, Kyle graduated in 2006. In his leisure time, he found joy in rooting for the Colts during football season and cheering on IU basketball. Kyle shared memorable moments attending 311 concerts with Jimmy and Mary, and embraced recreational activities like golf and playing Xbox. Sandra "Sandy" Grant, 82, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, after a short illness.She was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Rankin, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Edward Michael Schaeffer Sr. and Florence V. (Fleming) Schaeffer. On Dec. 10, 1975, she married Talmadge A. Grant, who preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1998. Sandy was a 1969 graduate of Kokomo High School, then attended Indiana University of Kokomo in the Seiberling Mansion. She lived in Chicago before pursuing a master's degree at the University of South Florida in education. She retired from Seffner Elementary after teaching for 30 years.She was full of life, energy, intelligence, love and compassion. She was an eager volunteer. She served in The Teachers Union, The League of Women Voters, as a tour guide at the Seiberling Mansion and on the editorial board of several newspapers. She registered voters weekly at the Farmers Market (with her little dog, Bo). She taught at the Literacy Coalition, and she opened her home to foreign exchange students. Sandy attended Brookside Free Methodist Church, and more recently joined Christ Lutheran Church. Above all, she loved Jesus. She longed for heaven in her last days, as she found comfort in Psalms 23 and old hymns.She is survived by Talmadge's daughters, Linda Cameron, Brenda Raby (and her daughter, Tia) and Wanda Huntley (husband, Greg and son, Adam), all of Florida; sister, Carol Brown, and sister in-law, Judy Schaeffer Sargent, both of Kokomo. Sun Ye (Yun) Bryant, 75, of Peru, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, to be with the Lord, at IU Health Methodist Hospital.Sun was born in Korea on June 16, 1949. On July 14, 1974, Sun married the love of her life, Jerry L. Bryant, and he survives.Sun worked at W.C. Redmon Company, where she manufactured baskets for more than 20 years. In her free time, Sun had a passion for gardening and anything nature. Sun loved life and everyone in it. She enjoyed watching the birds and spending time with her dogs. Her most cherished pastime was spent with her loving husband, Jerry. They enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage together. Sun was devoted in her faith, and deeply loved her church family. She was born on November 4, 1932, the daughter of John Sylvester and Rosa Mae (Grau) Durr. On April 6, 1952, she married Charles Henry Spangler, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 2022.Norma graduated from Northwestern High School in 1950 and was the class Valedictorian. She previously worked at Stellite and did the bookkeeping for the family farm and Spangler Seed Co. Norma enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and freezing. She loved being a farmer's wife, spending time with her family, and her pets, especially her co*ckatiel. Flora — Don J. Driggs Jr., 83, of Flora, Indiana, passed away on April 21, 2024, in Florida.With his passing, he was able to join the love of his life, Marijo Driggs. Don was born on Feb. 8, 1941, and served in the National Guard. He spent 30 years of his life as a dedicated supervisor for the Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo, Indiana. Don was a 1959 graduate of Flora High School, and received an associate's degree from Ball State University.Don was an avid Cubs fan. He spent many years coaching youth baseball in Flora, and was a positive influence in many boys' lives. After retirement, Don and Marijo enjoyed continual visits to Disney World. Most of all he loved spending as much time as possible with his family. Peggy Anne Snodgrass, 92, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away June 4, 2024.She was born on July 31, 1931, in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Chester and Violet (Burgin) Gang. Lew Eads of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on May 25, 2024.He was at home, surrounded with love, and his beloved family by his side. Born Earl Lewis Eads on Oct. 15, 1942, in Kokomo, Indiana, Lew was 81 years old. Lew grew up in Kokomo, graduating from Kokomo High School in 1960. He later graduated from Purdue University, earning a Bachelor's of Science degree. Lew joined General Motors, where he worked in marketing and advertising for the bulk of his career. After leaving General Motors, Lew opened his own media consulting firm. Lew married Pat Burke in 1994, and subsequently moved to Florida. With Pat, he helped to raise and train service dogs for people with disabilities and veterans. Lew was the "Founding Father" of the Colonial Charitable Foundation. Lew was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie (Price) and Jack Eads, and his brother, David Eads (Pat).He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Burke; his first wife, Jill Woodward (of Kokomo); his sister, Marrietta Harrold; his children; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.A service to honor and celebrate Lew's life will be held Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church at 1669 W. Carol was an administrative secretary at Tipton (Indiana) Junior High School, First Presbyterian Church (Kokomo, Indiana) and Community Church of Sun Village (Surprise, Arizona).Carol and Wayne both retired in 1990 and moved to Surprise, Arizona. Carol loved to read, watch Western movies, eat at her favorite restaurants, go to concerts and take day trips across Arizona with her daughter, Karen. She loved to visit local parks and watch for wildlife. She had a wonderfully funny sense of humor, which her children have all carried on. Carol was considered "Mom" and frequently called that by many of her younger friends. She was caring and generous to everyone she knew. Michael "Mike" Wendell Maupin, 61, of Galveston, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on July 20, 1962, the son of the late Wendell William and Beverly Jo (Wiebers) Maupin. On June 18, 2011, he married Amanda Renee Miller, and she survives.Mike was a 1981 graduate of Kokomo High School. He achieved a Master's in education, along with degrees in history and special education from Indiana University and Ball State University. Mike's career in teaching consisted of working as a teacher's aide at Western School Corp., Hamilton Heights Primary School and at Tri-Central School Corp. He retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections Juvenile Division, where he served as the Director of Testing for 26 years.Mike was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo. He was passionate about fishing, boating and listening to music. He took great pride in mowing his yard. Mike was known for having the best "dad" jokes, and had a great sense of humor. Ryan Christopher Blackford, 47, of Mexico, Indiana, passed away around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in the comfort of his home.Born on March 25, 1977, he was the son of Russell Blackford and the late Kristine (Kessler) Preston. On April 25, 2015, he married the love of his life, Danialle Blackford, and she survives.Ryan was a man known for his sense of humor and outgoing personality. Though in confidence he would tell you that he wasn't always comfortable meeting new people, you would never know it. He was instantly engaging and friendly, and always witty.Ryan was also well-known for his love of cooking, and for the delicious food he made for his beloved family and friends. Every night he had a wonderful meal prepared for his family. His food was not only always tasty and seasoned to perfection, but it was also a great source of comfort to his whole family, and it is something they will miss forever.Ryan was able to fix just about anything, whether it be around the house or mechanical. He even fixed the broken lights that his wife brought home from a garage sale! Ryan graduated from Motorcycle Mechanic's Institute, Orlando, Florida, in 2005. He was always helping friends and family in need with his skills and expertise. His most recent project was fixing up a boat for himself and his family, and though he was unfortunately never able to enjoy the fruits of his labor, members of his family will be taking the boat out to the lake this summer to scatter some of his ashes.Some of Ryan's other hobbies included camping, fishing and going to the races.Ryan had several mechanical occupations over the years, but for the past 12 years he was a forklift technician, eventually starting his own business, Rad Forklift Repair. Most recently while he was sick, he worked part-time for his cousin's business, Quality Forklift Repair.Survivors include his wife, Danialle Blackford; his son and daughter, Jacob and Alexandria Blackford; his father, Russell (Amber) Blackford, from whom he got his love of cooking and fixing things, and his sense of humor; his in-laws, Terry and Pam Saylor, and Sonny Arwood; his sisters, Hyde Heckman and Emily Deming; and his sister- and brother-in-law, Brandi and Dave Mathis, whom he was very close with. Special thank you to those two; they were there for Ryan and his family the entire time in the weeks leading up to his death, even staying at home with Ryan and his family the entire time he was in hospice. Fisher and Golda Marie (Elshire) Fisher. Jerri married Gerald M. Kunkle on April 4, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1986.Jerri worked several different places throughout the years. She was employed as a secretary to Mr. Honeywell in Wabash, Indiana. She also worked in the Butler Township Trustees Office, the Cutler Swingle Chrysler Auto Agency and Berkshire's Law Office as a secretary. Derrick Shelton was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the youngest of four children from the marriage of Horace and Irene Shelton.The Shelton family left Alabama for Indiana when Derrick was a child. Derrick attended Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church of Kokomo, Indiana, with his family. Derrick accepted Christ at an early age, and again later in life. Derrick briefly served in the U.S. Navy shortly after high school.Derrick permanently moved to the Pacific Northwest of the United States in the early 1990s, and rarely returned to Indiana. As such, our family's most memorable times with Derrick were during his formative years in Kokomo, Indiana. Derrick was a multi-sport athlete. Everyone knows Hoosiers take high school football seriously. We recall Derrick's football accomplishments being featured many times in the Kokomo Tribune: "Six county runners have rambled for at least 100 yards. Taylor's Derrick Shelton leads that pack with 194 yards on 30 carries." — Kokomo Tribune, Aug. 31, 1983. He also wrestled and played the trombone. Joseph Michael Harris, 57, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on June 2, 2024.He was born on Aug. 16, 1966, in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of Joseph Patrick and Emily R. Harris (Pasquali). On Feb. 21, 1987, he married Annette L. Harris (McClish), who survives. Joseph loved coaching youth sports as his children were growing up. He enjoyed joking around with family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking, metal detecting, the outdoors, collecting marbles, camping and spending time with family. Joseph was a huge Notre Dame football fan, and enjoyed talking to his mom during games. He had a passion for history, and had spent the past two years working with a historian to ensure his great-grandfather, William Simon Harris, is honored properly with the presentation of the Medal of Honor for his heroic deeds during the Spanish War. Joseph worked at Humphrey Printing, in downtown Kokomo, for many years. He was a loving husband, father and son who cared deeply for those around him.Surviving relatives include his wife, Annette L. Debra (Debbie) June McDorman (Newell), 73, of Kokomo, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 7:03 a.m., in her own home.She was born on April 7, 1951, to the late Donnell and Margaret Newell. A very special thank you to Angie Burress (niece) for making all the arrangements needed for a quick and smooth transition to hospice in her home.She wore many hats and enjoyed everything she did. She had high aspirations as a young adult to attend beauty school to become a beautician. She did exactly that, and worked in the field for many years. Following that time, she had many roles in the community as a seamstress for the Factory Connection, housekeeping for the Kokomo Sports Center, Macys and Lazarus, but she spent the largest portion of her time running and supporting her husband's business, McDormans Concrete Construction. Debra was a very talented seamstress, where she loved and enjoyed expressing herself through her many talents of crafting, altering and embroidering many items for herself and for others. She had a passion for her family, and spent as much time as she could with them. You could find her most Sundays after church during the summer hosting cookouts at her home. She also loved family vacations, with a few of her favorite destinations being St. Joseph, Michigan, and Cedar Point. During basketball season, she could be found weekly supporting the Kokomo Wildkats on the sidelines and watching the Indiana Pacers.Debra was a devout Christian, and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an active member of Valley Fellowship Church, Walton, Indiana, and attended every Sunday with her husband, daughter and grandson. Debra, Gregory and Levi all made the important decision to openly confess Jesus Christ is Lord, and to be baptized together on June 4, 2023. WWII veteran Betty June Cowgill passed away on May 31, 2024, at the age of 102.She was born on Oct. 7, 1921, to the late Leo and Cecil (Mills) Stephens. On June 26, 1943, Betty enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard SPARS through the duration of WWII, on Dec. 14, 1945. She also retired from SEARS in 1988 after 30 years of employment.Betty Cowgill leaves behind her two daughters, Clar Adele (Lee) Coy and Barbara (Otis) Porter, and two deceased daughters, Betty Darlene and Sharon Sue; grandchildren, Dean Coy, Kimberly Coy, Tawahna (John) Voils, Michael Bridegroom, Christina (Jim) Moore, Jennifer (Brian) Beaver, Steve (Jennifer) Cowgill. Two grandchildren died shortly after birth, Jana Lee Coy and Keith Collin Coy. There are two stepgrandchildren, Donna Folsom and Tony Porter, and one deceased. She also has seven surviving great-grandchildren and two deceased; plus four surviving stepgreat-grandchildren and two deceased. Gerry J. Ewing, 72 of Elwood, died on May 31, 2024, at his home.He was born on Aug. 16, 1951, in Elwood, to Robert Ewing and Ruth (Davis) Ewing-Everett. Gerry was a 1969 graduate of Willkie High School. He retired from Chrysler in Kokomo after 10 years of service, and formerly worked at Thompson Electronics (RCA) for 22 years. He was a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge #368, where he worked as the club manager for many years. Gerry enjoyed swimming, formerly running, playing golf, watching I.U. and watching the L.A. Dodgers. Howard Clinton Long, 86, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, in a health care facility. His family extends a special thank you to two very special people who helped to care for Howard for the last three months. They are Candius McCutchins and Erika Casteel. Howard loved them both. Howard also wanted to remember his special friend, neighbor and on-site RN who counseled and helped him, Karen Hall Dykes.He was the son of Kenneth Ray Long and Georgia Ellen Porter Long, and was born in Howard County, Indiana, on Nov. 8, 1937. He was a 1955 graduate of Northwestern High School.He retired as a manager from Cabot Corporation, Kokomo, Indiana, at the age of 48 after 30 years of service. His work ethic and reputation was such that he was recruited as plant manager for Bishop Tube Corporation of Frazier, Pennsylvania. After three years there, again he was recruited as a manager at CE Tubes, Chattanooga, Tennessee. He retired from there in 1999, when the plant closed. He later was employed by Lowes as installed sales manager for eight years. In addition, he served on the Catoosa County Board of Elections for 12 years, and as chairman of that Board for two years.He was a 32" Degree Mason and a Shriner. His Masonic Lodge was Lodge #244 in Galveston, Indiana. He was a member of Judson Baptist Church, Howard County, Indiana, from youth until 1999, when he became a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church.He was also importantly an avid LSU football fan!In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Gamblin.He is survived by his wife of 56 years and 10 months, Sue Lynn Hall Long of Ringgold, Georgia; two daughters, Kathryn Kay Long Shambaugh (John Miller) of Rossville, Indiana, and Pamela Sue Long of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one son, Gregory Keith Long (Angela) of Kokomo, Indiana; four grandchildren, Adrienne Niverson, Megan Miller, Macen Long and Michael Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Willow Anne Kinsey, Myla Sue Long and Liam and Everett Niverson; sister, Margie Smith of Kokomo, Indiana; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ringgold First Baptist Church, 7611 Nashville St., Ringgold, Georgia, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at noon, with Pastor Eric Kennedy and friend Lewis Taylor in charge of the service. Tony James Jarrett, 64, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on May 31, 2024, at his home after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on Jan. 3, 1960, the son of James Roscoe Jarrett and Carol (co*ckrell) Jackson. On Sept. 24, 1983, he married Lisa Shrock, and she survives. Tony was a 1978 graduate of Eastern High School. He defied all odds and embraced life far beyond what was foreseen. Born and raised in the heart of Indiana, Tony was a true Midwestern man who was known for his values, grit and signature mustache. Tony's journey through life was marked by his many passions and accomplishments. Tony owned and operated a successful trucking company with his wife Lisa, J & J Trucking Company. A trucker by profession, he was also a former sprint car racer, and to many, the biggest badass they had ever met. His strength and determination were unmatched, making him the toughest individual we had the privilege of knowing.Tony was not just a proud father, a wonderful husband, a loving grandfather and a great friend to many. He was a pillar of strength and love for his family. His wife, Lisa, was the love of his life and they were married for 40+ years. His children, Brandi and Logan, and grandson, TJ, were his pride and joy, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them. Yet, he always made sure to be fully present in their lives, never missing a game, a race or any meaningful milestone. Tony's selflessness was a testament to his character, finding great joy in watching others continue to live their lives fully, even as his own was impacted by cancer.In his final race, Tony crossed the finish line with the same courage and spirit that defined his life, waving the checkered flag in victory for a life well-lived. Robert "Bobby" Guerre Jr., 79, of Kokomo, passed away at 7:21 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Bloom (Kokomo).Bobby was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on Saturday, March 17, 1945, to Robert and Phyllis (Preston) Guerre Sr. He attended Kokomo High School and, on Nov. 20, 1965, married his loving wife, Joyce Scott. Bobby enlisted in the United States Army, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Bobby worked at General Motors in Kokomo, where he was a pipe fitter. He retired after approximately 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick's-Kokomo, UAW 292, American Legion Kokomo Post 6 and Knights of Columbus.Bobby was a master craftsman and could build anything out of anything. Landscaping was also one of his gifts, and he could bring so much beauty to the areas he worked on. If you met Bobby, you wouldn't forget him. Family was everything to him. He adored his wife, and he dearly loved his daughters and grandchildren. Jerry Keith Gappens Jr., 63 years old, of Sharpsville, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2024, at Community Howard Regional Health.He was born in Kokomo, Indiana, on May 10, 1961, the son of Jerry Keith Gappens Sr. and Opal (Woolum) Gappens-Horoho. On April 10, 2022, he married Cheryl McCool, and she survives.Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Tri Central High School, and attended Ball State University before beginning his prolific career in racing. Most recently, Jerry was serving as general manager at Eldora Speedway, where he was awarded Promotor of the Year in 2023. Jerry came to Eldora from Indiana's Gas City I-69 Speedway as the promotor of the quarter-mile dirt oval since 2018. Prior to his tenure at Gas City, Gappens spent 23 years with Speedway Motorsports, specifically serving as executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon for eight years (2008-2015) and senior vice president of events and marketing of Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway for 15 years (1993-2007).Jerry was an optimistic, encouraging and loveable man. He prioritized his relationship with Jesus Christ as a faithful member of Heartland Church in Sharpsville. His favorite past times included spending time with family, watching sports and singing karaoke. Michael F. Kilmer, 77, Kokomo, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 28, 2024.He was born Feb. 17, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, to Walter M. and Reba B. (Fannon) Kilmer. On Aug. 9, 1969, he married Susan K. Troyer, who survives. A 1965 Kokomo High School graduate, Mike went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Ball State University in 1974. He served his duty to his country in the United States Air Force from 1966-1968. He was a co-owner of Fenn Lumber Company in Kokomo, and later worked in management at Big Lots before retiring in 2011. As a life member of the Elks, he also held the office of Past Exalted Ruler and was a member of the American Legion Post 6. Mike enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife over the years, but his greatest love was for his family with whom he cherished many special memories. He is survived by his wife, Susan Kilmer; daughters, Kelly Kilmer-Mullagh and husband Kelly, and Kara Kirkpatrick and husband Jason; and grandchildren, Benjamin Mullagh, Abigail Mullagh, Ashton Kirkpatrick, Sofia Kirkpatrick and Miles Kirkpatrick. Troy A. Alger, 57, of Greentown, went home with our Lord on Saturday, May 25, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.He was born Nov. 16, 1966, in Peru, the son of Hugh and Ruth (McBee) Alger. Troy served in the United States Army from 1986 to 1989 and later worked as a machine operator for Marion Cable. He had a love for fishing, hunting, camping, riding Harleys and doing all things outdoors. Nothing made him happier than fishing and doing outdoor activities with his fiancé, Jodie, and his friend, Collen, and talking about growing up with his mom and stepfather in Arkansas, and with his other family, Maw and Paw Russell.Survivors include his fiancé, Jodie Cornett, and her son, Aaron Cornett; brothers, Dennis (Becky) Alger and Kim (Michelle) Alger; and sister, Diane (Jerry) Hickman.He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Alger, and mother and stepfather, Ruth and Marvin Tyree. Ferdinando "Vic" Magnorfi, 88, of Kokomo, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.He was born March 31, 1936, in Tripoli, Libya, to Carmelo and Antonietta (Tinnirello) Magnorfi. On Sept. 13, 1981, he married Mary Ellen (Pelgen) Clark, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2022.Vic graduated from Marconi High School, and later moved from Tripoli to Kokomo in 1963. He worked at Continental Steel for 23 years before retiring and had also worked for St. Joan of Arc and Wheelus Air Force Base. Vic enjoyed stamp collecting, woodworking, cooking and photography. Born on Aug. 6, 1941, Sondra was the daughter of Phill Samuels and Elva Walker LaDow. She married the love of her life, Ernest S. Wolfe, in 1963, and together they raised two wonderful children, Stephen Lance Wolfe and Michael Jason Wolfe. Sondra was a proud graduate of Kokomo High School, and later went on to pursue her passion for creating beautiful floral arrangements, which eventually led to her starting her own catering business. She brought joy to many through her beautiful arrangements and delicious dishes. She eventually left behind the excitement of catering to spend more time on the things she loved the most, her family and travel. Sondra was always there for those she loved, never missing any major events or milestones in the lives of her sons or her husband. Sondra made sure she was always readily available for them, whenever they needed her. Sondra excelled at being a loving mother and wife. Sondra was adored by her family and friends for her infectious laughter, warm smile and kind heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her adoring husband, Ernest S Wolfe; her son, Stephen Lance Wolfe, along with his wife, Jennifer Wolfe; Sondra's grandson, Foster D. Dr. David "Dave" Philip Jarrell, 81, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away May 17, 2024, at his home after (in his words) "trying to stay one step ahead of prostate cancer since 2016."He was born on Aug. 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. After relocating to Southern Illinois for a time, Dave was back in the "region" for middle school and then high school at Thornton Fractional North High School, where he graduated in 1960. After a two-year stint at Purdue Calumet, Dave was accepted into the I.U. School of Dentistry (fulfilling his sixth grade childhood dream), where he graduated with Honors in June of 1966, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society. A degree wasn't the only thing Dave acquired at dental school. He also met and then married his red-haired Swedish sweetheart Barbro on June 18, 1966. Dave's next adventure was to join the U.S. Army Dental Corps, where he proudly served as a Captain from 1966 to 1970, and received the National Defense Service Medal. Serving in the Army took Dave and Barb to various places, including boot camp in Texas, a one-year dental internship in San Fransisco and three years in the 14th armored cavalry in Fulda, Germany. After the Army, Dave opened a General Dentist Practice in Griffith, Indiana, from 1970 to 1972, and welcomed his son Kevin into the world. Dave then decided to pursue an additional degree in orthodontics at the University of California, San Fransisco, from 1972 to 1974. During these sunny California days, his daughter Lisa was born. Now a full-fledged orthodontist, Dave, Barb and the kids packed it up and moved back to the Midwest, where Dr. Dave had a thriving Orthodontics practice in Kokomo and Logansport from 1974 until his retirement in 2003, when his son Dr. Kevin took over the practice "allowing me to slip out the back door!"Dave had a passion for all things Datsun and Nissan. He started off with a brand new 1974 ½ Datsun 260 2+2 that went through two different makeovers, winning many awards at Nissan car shows across the United States. Over the next five decades, he went on to own several later model Nissans, taking them to car shows as well. His attention to detail as an orthodontist served him well as a car detailer, and he continued to win many awards at the car shows over the years. Those who knew Dave know that he had a great sense of humor, loved to host a gathering of folks, (whether for an IU basketball game during the Bobby Knight era, or parking 20 different Z cars in his backyard for "Z's in the Woods"), and he could turn into a different person if he donned a wig and a pair of silly glasses. His wit and intellect will be greatly missed by friends and family alike. Dave's professional memberships included the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society, Wabash Valley Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, American Dental Association, Indiana Association of Orthodontists, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. He was also a member of SVEA #253, a Swedish-American club in Indianapolis, Indiana, and a member of the Indy Z Car Club, as well as the Windy City Z Car Club. Along with his loving wife of almost 58 years, Barbro K. (Hultberg) Jarrell; Dave is survived by his children Dr. Kevin T. Jarrell and Lisa K. (Steven) Baker; grandchildren, Andrew D. Jarrell, Elizabeth N. Jarrell, Michael W. Jarrell, Reese S. Baker and Ryan P. Baker; step-granddaughters Sydney L. (Ryan) Huddleston and Carley R. Baker; sister, Cecilia Kay Diaz; brother-in-law, Thomas K. (Maria) Hultberg; aunt, Inez (Charles) Amaya; and many cousins; nieces; and nephews.Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary L. (Frohock) Jarrell; and his brother-in-law, Edward Diaz.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Scott McDermid officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo V.F.W. Military Rites Team. Nancy Custer, 83, Greentown, passed away at 2:03 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-86th Street in Indianapolis. She was born February 23, 1941, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Opal M. (Crousore) Rees. On September 10, 1960, she married Jesse "Arnold" Custer Jr., and he survives. Nancy was a 1959 graduate of Eastern High School. In her younger years, she worked at Hudson's Grocery Store, but was a homemaker most of her life. Nancy was a member of New Salem Friends Church, Greentown Order of Eastern Star Chapter #195 where she was past deputy and past grand star point. She enjoyed sewing, word finds and playing the piano. Nancy cherished her family time and enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake. In addition to her husband Arnold, Nancy is survived by her daughter, Stacy Custer; grandchildren, Chaney (Mike) Walthour, Dustin Custer, Joshua Custer, Ashley (Toby) Thompson, Lauren (Matthew Kuehn) Maines, and Rees Maines; 9 great-grandchildren, Ivy Garcia, Blake Singer, Isis Dillman, Jayma Hayes, Emmelia Walthour, Jaxon Walthour, Lillian Thompson, Alison Thompson, and Tannah Custer; 2 great-great grandchildren, Bentley and Wynter; daughter-in-law, Debra Custer; and honorary son Craig Henry.Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Mark & Jim Custer; grandson, Dusty Dillman, and brothers, Jack (Judy) Rees, and Dwayne Rees. Susan "Susie" Jane Burns, 78, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 12:31 a.m., at Community Howard Regional Hospital.She was born on Jan. 4, 1946, in Frankfort, Indiana, to the late Norman and Mary (Conaway) Burns. Susie retired from Community Howard Regional Hospital after 43 years of employment. She enjoyed quilting and she belonged to the local sewing guilds. They would make quilted items to donate to non-profit organizations. Susie also loved attending sewing retreats and going to quilt shops. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her great-grandchildren. Surviving is her son, Robert (Marilyn) Burns; daughter-in-law, Angie Burns; grandchildren, Shannon (Jeremy) Irmeger and James Rodenbarger; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Von Irmeger; nephews, Steve (Debbie) Kincaid; and great-nephews, Matt Kincaid and Nick (Raegen) Kincaid.Preceding in death are her parents; son, William "Bill" Burns; and sister, Judy Kincaid. Jeanne Carlisle Simmons, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at her home.She was born July 13, 1942, in Kokomo, to Jay and Joan (Fleming) Walton. She was married to Wendell Simmons, and he survives.A 1960 Kokomo High School graduate, Jeanne worked as an accountant for Lorentson manufacturing. Jeanne was proud of her work and served on the board of directors. She loved her work but was also a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Jeanne enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends as well.Jeanne is survived by her husband, Wendell; children, Scott Simmons and Carla Rock; grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Smith, Samantha Simmons, Alexandra Simmons and Olivia Simmons; great-grandchildren, Baylee Foltz, Parker West and Mason West; brother, Jim Walton; and sister, Jerri Walton.She was preceded in death by her parents.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Clarence Russell Larson, 89, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away May 20, 2024.He was born May 4, 1935, in Kokomo, Indiana, the son of Lawrence and Evangeline Larson. On Jan. 21, 1955, he married Nancy Lulu (Alexander) Larson, who preceded him in death on July 22, 2003.Clarence began his career as a butcher at various grocery stores in Kokomo. He also worked at Chrysler in production for 26 years before retiring. Clarence was a very friendly man and did not know a stranger. He served as a leader in Boy Scouts of America while his son was involved. Clarence was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and son to Mackinac Island. Surviving relatives include his son, Steven K. Larson of Kokomo, Indiana; and his church family from Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a companion, Ruby Stiner.Visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 E.
